The first session of the Conference of Arab Culture Ministers took place in 1976 in Amman, Jordan. Since that date, the Conference has been held every other year. The 21st session was convened in Cairo, Egypt on October 14-15, 2018. Since its 10th session held in Tunis, Tunisia, on February 26-27, 1997, the Conference has identified a core topic for each session, reflecting a major cultural issue of concern to the Arab countries. The main topic and sub-themes of each session are proposed by the Standing Committee for Arab Culture, and are then discussed by the Conference which adopts the necessary actions to be implemented by Member States and by the Organization.
The 22nd session of the conference will be hosted by the UAE in 2020, and will be dedicated to reviewing and developing the comprehensive plan for Arab culture.
