ALECSO participates in the Launch of the Programme to Implement the Arab Model for Quality and Excellence in Education
The Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization (ALECSO) participated, on 28 September 2026 in Doha, Qatar, in the launch of the “Programme to Implement the Arab Model for Quality and Excellence in Education and Train Educational Leaders.”
The Programme is organized by the Ministry of Education and Higher Education of the State of Qatar, in cooperation with the Qatar National Commission for Education, Culture and Science and the UNESCO Regional Centre for Quality and Excellence in Education.
The event was attended by H.E. Lolwah bint Rashid bin Mohammed Al Khater, Minister of Education and Higher Education, alongside several officials, experts, and educational leaders.
H.E. Dr. Mohamed Ould Amar, Director-General of ALECSO, participated in the event through a recorded address, in which he emphasized that quality in education is a strategic issue closely linked to the building of human capital and to the ability of societies to learn, innovate, and contribute to development. He stressed that genuine quality is reflected in learning outcomes as well as in the ability of education systems to learn from their data and experiences and continuously improve their practices.
The Director-General noted that rapid transformations in technology, artificial intelligence, and the labor market make foresight an essential component of quality. He highlighted the need for education systems to move beyond managing the present towards preparing for the future in an informed and proactive manner. He further stressed that the Arab Model for Quality and Excellence serves as an integrated reference framework encompassing leadership, education and learning, resources, institutional environment, learning outcomes, and continuous improvement, while supporting educational institutions in sustainably enhancing their performance.
The Model is intended for implementation across Arab countries and is based on four main pillars: forward-looking vision; governance and performance management; educational performance; and outcomes. Together, these pillars contribute to building an institutional culture of quality and excellence in education.
ALECSO’s participation in the Programme forms part of its efforts to support the development of Arab education systems, strengthen Arab cooperation in the field of quality and excellence, and link the improvement of educational performance to future requirements and rapidly evolving technological transformations.
