The Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization (Education Department), held, in collaboration with the Libyan National Commission, a Training Workshop on Comprehensive Care for Children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) on 26–27 July 2026 in Tripoli, Libya.
The workshop was organized as part of ALECSO's commitment to developing education systems across the Arab world and supporting comprehensive care policies for children with ASD, which are essential to enhancing the quality of education and promoting well-being within educational institutions. The initiative is also aligned with modern educational approaches that affirm the right of all children—including those with ASD—to receive high-quality, safe, inclusive, and equitable education that addresses their developmental and psychological needs, promotes their mental well-being, and supports the development of their abilities and effective integration into both the educational environment and society.
The workshop also forms part of Libya's national commitment to ensuring the right of all children to inclusive education without discrimination, in line with the country's educational policies and the principles established by international human rights instruments and conventions concerning the rights of persons with disabilities.
In her opening remarks, Ms. Jalila Labidi, ALECSO's representative, reaffirmed the Organization's commitment to supporting Libya's comprehensive development priorities, particularly the National Education Strategy, along with national initiatives and projects that promote the principles of inclusive education and the Sustainable Development Goals.
For his part, Dr. Hussein Al-Mechrigui, Secretary-General of the Libyan National Commission, expressed his appreciation to ALECSO for its continuous support and effective partnership in implementing projects aimed at improving educational environments and strengthening the capacities of specialized professionals through training in the latest scientific approaches and practices.
