Represented by Dr. Mourad Rifi, Director of the Arabization Coordination Bureau, the Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization participated, on 23 July 2026 in Rabat, in the opening session of the General Assembly of the Moroccan National Commission for Education, Science and Culture. The session was chaired by H.E. Mr. Mohamed Saad Berrada, Minister of National Education, Preschool and Sports and President of the National Commission.
During the opening session, Dr. Rifi delivered a statement on behalf of H.E. Dr. Mohamed Ould Amar, Director-General of ALECSO.
The session was attended by government officials, along with representatives from regional and international organizations and partner national institutions.
This participation provided an opportunity to reaffirm the strong institutional cooperation between ALECSO and the Moroccan National Commission, and to emphasize the importance of pursuing coordinated efforts in the fields of education, science, and culture; thereby meeting shared priorities and enhancing Morocco's active engagement in the programs and governing bodies of specialized international organizations.
The General Assembly reviewed the achievements of the Moroccan National Commission during 2025, including Morocco's election to the Executive Board of UNESCO, the expansion of Moroccan cities' participation in UNESCO networks, in addition to a number of scientific and cultural initiatives and institutional cooperation programmes.
During the session, the participants approved the Commission's reports and recommendations. They also addressed a message of loyalty and devotion to His Majesty King Mohammed VI.
