Director-General Presents ALECSO Shield to Libyan Minister of Planning

On the sidelines of his participation in the International Planning and Development Forum, hosted by the State of Libya, H.E. Dr. Mohamed Ould Amar, Director-General of ALECSO, presented, during an official ceremony, the “ALECSO Shield” to H.E. Mr. Mohammed Yousef Al-Zaidani, Libya’s Minister of Planning, on 29 June 2026. The distinction was awarded in recognition of the Minister’s efforts to support sustainable development and strengthen Arab cooperation in strategic planning and development.

The ceremony was attended by a number of officials and experts participating in the Forum. 

In his remarks on this occasion, the Director-General emphasized that this recognition reflects the strong institutional ties between ALECSO and the State of Libya, as well as ALECSO’s commitment to strengthening its partnerships with Arab national institutions in support of the Sustainable Development Goals and the development of knowledge-based societies. He commended the efforts of the Libyan Ministry of Planning to establish sound foundations for development planning and to promote greater integration among economic, social, and cultural policies. He also reaffirmed ALECSO’s keenness to expand cooperation with the Ministry through the implementation of joint programmes and initiatives in capacity-building, strategic planning, innovation, digital transformation, and the use of knowledge as a driver of development.

For his part, the Libyan Minister expressed his appreciation for the recognition, and commended ALECSO’s leading role in supporting Arab countries. He underscored the importance of strengthening cooperation with the Organization and benefiting from its expertise in implementing development projects and programmes that contribute to achieving national priorities and advancing comprehensive development.
