ALECSO Implements “Scientific Visitor and Arab Migrant Scholars”  Programme at Port Said University

 

 

Under the supervision of H.E. Dr. Mohamed Ould Amar, Director-General of ALECSO, and under the patronage of H.E. Dr. Abdelaziz Konsowa, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research of Egypt and Chairman of the Egyptian National Commission for Education, Science and Culture, the Department of Science and Scientific Research at ALECSO implemented, in cooperation with the Egyptian National Commission and Port Said University, the second edition of the “Scientific Visitor and Arab Migrant Scholars” Programme. The event took place from June 9 to 11, 2026, at Port Said University in Egypt.

This programme is organized as part of ALECSO’s commitment to achieving the objectives of the Arab Strategy for Scientific Research, Technology and Innovation, promoting Arab scientific cooperation, and benefiting from the expertise of distinguished Arab scholars both within the Arab world and abroad. It aims to contribute to the development of higher education and scientific research systems, as well as to strengthen academic and research capacities in Arab universities and research institutions.

The event featured the participation of prominent Arab visiting professors and experts who delivered a series of specialized training sessions and scientific lectures in priority fields. These included research paper preparation and scientific publishing in accordance with international standards; innovation, entrepreneurship, and digital transformation in the age of artificial intelligence; quality assurance and academic evaluation; as well as strategic planning and the development of higher education institutions in the context of digital transformation.

The programme also included panel discussions that brought together visiting professors, faculty members, and researchers from Port Said University to explore prospects for scientific cooperation, exchange expertise, and identify future partnership opportunities in research and academic development. These efforts are designed to improve the quality of higher education and scientific research in line with sustainable development goals in the Arab world.

During the closing ceremony, Dr. Mohamed Sanad Abu Darwish, Director of Science and Scientific Research at ALECSO, conveyed the greetings of the Director-General and expressed appreciation for the efforts made by Port Said University and the Egyptian National Commission in organizing and implementing the programme. He emphasized that the Scientific Visitor Programme reflects ALECSO’s commitment to enhancing Arab academic mobility and harnessing Arab scientific potential to support development and build knowledge societies, in line with the aspirations of Arab countries in higher education and scientific research.

The event concluded with the awarding of certificates to more than 100 participants, including faculty members and researchers who benefited from the training sessions. Visiting professors also delivered presentations summarizing their impressions and recommendations regarding the programme, the university, and the participants, expressing widespread appreciation for the high scientific and organizational standards of the programme and its positive impact in strengthening capacities, promoting knowledge exchange, and fostering communication and cooperation among Arab academic institutions.
