 ALECSO opens its Book Corner at EMUNI University   and Signs Cooperation Agreement

 

Under the patronage of H.E. Dr. Mohamed Ould Amar, Director-General of the Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization, the “ALECSO Corner” was inaugurated at the library of the Euro-Mediterranean University (EMUNI) in Koper, Slovenia.

The inauguration ceremony was led by Dr. Mohamed Sand Abu Darwish, Director of Science and Scientific Research at ALECSO, and Dr. Rado Bohinc, President of EMUNI University. The event was attended by H.E. Ms. Sabrina Bai, Ambassador of Algeria to Slovenia, H.E. Ms. Nahla El-Zawahry, Ambassador of Egypt to Slovenia, as well as a number of academics and Arab students enrolled at the university.

The ALECSO Corner showcases a selection of the Organization’s publications, including encyclopedias, dictionaries, journals, and bulletins covering the fields of education, culture, science, and ICT.

In his remarks, the President of EMUNI University commended this initiative, highlighting its importance in enhancing ALECSO’s educational, cultural, and scientific contributions on the global stage, promoting scientific culture, and providing Arab students in European universities with access to valuable academic references published by ALECSO.

As part of ongoing efforts to strengthen cooperation with international universities and institutions, and in line with the objectives of the Arab Strategy for Scientific Research, Technology and Innovation, ALECSO and EMUNI University signed a Memorandum of Understanding and a Cooperation Agreement.

This step comes as part of preparations for the organization of a joint scientific conference, to be hosted by ALECSO at its headquarters in Tunis on June 23–24, 2026, under the theme : “Euro-Mediterranean Higher Education, Research and Innovation: Sustainability, Open Science, and Green Jobs.”

During the visit, Dr. Mohamed Sand Abu Darwish delivered a comprehensive presentation to Arab students, in which he conveyed the greetings of the Director-General to all attendees, and outlined ALECSO’s vision, mandate, and key areas of action. The presentation was followed by an open discussion during which students expressed strong interest in ALECSO’s active role in advancing scientific and cultural initiatives.
