The Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization (Department of Education) took part in the 8th International Arabic Language Conference, held in Sharjah, UAE, on 28–29 January 2026.
The Conference was organized by the Arabic Language Educational Centre for Gulf States under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah. Its theme was: “Teaching and Learning Arabic: Looking Towards the Future—Requirements, Opportunities, and Challenges.”
Dr. Kamel Hajjam, Education Expert at ALECSO, delivered a presentation on the project Developing a Common Framework of Reference for the Arabic Language: Teaching, Learning, and Assessment. He conveyed the greetings of H.E. Dr. Mohamed Ould Amar, Director-General of ALECSO, to the sponsoring and organizing bodies and to all participants. He highlighted the strategic importance of the project as a qualitative leap toward adopting unified Arab standards for teaching Arabic and assessing learners’ competencies in line with international references.
Dr. Hajjam reaffirmed ALECSO’s commitment, as an Arab house of expertise, to supporting joint Arab initiatives aimed at advancing Arabic language education and strengthening its presence at both regional and international levels.
