ALECSO and Saudi Education Ministry organize    Workshop on Educational Planning and Evaluation Strategies

 

 

Under the patronage of the Ministry of Education of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization (ICT Department) organized, on January 11-13, 2026, in collaboration with the Saudi National Commission for Education, Culture and Science, a specialized training workshop titled : “Strategies for Educational Planning and Evaluation and the Use of Indicators and Data in Their Implementation”.

In his opening remarks, Dr. Ibrahim bin Mohammed Azizi, Director-General of the Department of International Organizations at the Ministry of Education, emphasized the importance of this program in strengthening data-driven educational planning. He explained that the workshop seeks to equip participants with practical tools for data analysis, indicator development, use of modern technologies, and application of machine-learning techniques to support educational decision-making.

For his part, Dr. Mohamed Jemni, Director of ICT at ALECSO, conveyed the greetings of H.E. Dr. Mohamed Ould Amar, Director-General of ALECSO, and commended the constructive cooperation with Saudi Arabia. He stressed that the workshop came in response to the current rapid digital transformations, noting that educational planning and evaluation no longer rely on individual judgment, but rather on in-depth scientific analysis of big data, in a way that ensures quality and efficiency in education systems.

Dr. Jemni pointed out that the Kingdom’s hosting of this event reflects its strong commitment to developing the education system and enhancing the quality of planning, in full alignment with the objectives of the Saudi Vision 2030 to build a globally competitive knowledge-based society.

The workshop ran for three days, with the participation of 31 specialists in planning, indicator-building, and data analytics from the Ministry of Education. It also brought together  prominent experts and trainers who delivered scientific lectures and conducted intensive practical sessions combining theoretical and technical aspects, with the ultimate goal being to enhance the capacities of educational personnel in leveraging data to improve national education policies.
