As part of the partnership project between the Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization (ALECSO) and the International Organisation of La Francophonie (OIF), the 18th “Ibn Khaldun–Senghor Translation Award” ceremony was held on November 26, 2025 at ALECSO headquarters in Tunis.
The Award was presented by H.E. Dr. Mohamed Ould Amar, Director-General of ALECSO, and Ms. Haoua Acyl, OIF Representative in North Africa, to the French translator Stéphanie Dujols for her translation from Arabic into French of the novel “Je suis ma liberté”.
The Award ceremony was attended by members of the Jury, as well as numerous translation specialists and intellectuals from the Arab world and the Francophone space.
Stéphanie Dujols is a French translator who has translated works of contemporary Arabic literature. She has also worked as an interpreter for humanitarian organizations. She has had several professional experiences in the Arab region—including in Egypt, Palestine, and Jordan. Through her work, Dujols seeks to make Arabic literature accessible to Francophone readers, further introducing the richness of the Arabic language and conveying issues that reflect the contemporary concerns and aspirations of humanity.
On the sidelines of the award ceremony, a roundtable titled “Translation in the Age of Artificial Intelligence: Meeting Challenges” was held, enriched by contributions from the jury members as well as by experts interested in translation issues, alongside journalists from Arab news agencies.
