124th  session of the ALECSO Executive Board kicks off in Cairo

 

The 124th session of the Executive Board of the Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization (ALECSO) kicked off on December 3, 2025 in Cairo, Egypt.

The opening ceremony was attended by H.E. Dr. Mohamed Ayman Ashour, Egyptian Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research and Chairman of the Egyptian National Commission for Education, Science, and Culture; H.E. Mr. Hani bin Moqbel Al-Moqbel, Chairman of the Executive Board; H.E. Dr. Mohamed Ould Amar, Director-General of ALECSO; and Mr. Amjad Ghanem, representative of the General Secretariat of the Arab League.

The opening statements highlighted ALECSO’s pivotal role in strengthening joint Arab action and supporting efforts to develop education, culture, and science across the Arab world.

The Egyptian Minister, Dr. Mohamed Ayman Ashour, underlined the importance of investing in education to build an enlightened generation capable of keeping pace with scientific and intellectual developments, through developing an equitable, inclusive and lifelong quality education system. He commended ALECSO and the members of the Executive Board for their efforts in fulfilling the Organization’s noble mandate.

The Chairman of the Executive Board, Mr. Hani bin Moqbel Al-Moqbel, affirmed the Board’s continued support for ALECSO so that it can carry out its leading role with a high degree of efficiency, and make further qualitative achievements at the Arab and regional levels.

The ALECSO Director-General, Dr. Mohamed Ould Amar, reviewed the Organization’s major achievements in recent months, and the initiatives it has launched as part of its forward-looking vision. He expressed his gratitude to the Executive Board members for their continued support to ALECSO in the fulfilment of its educational, cultural, and scientific mandate.   He extended his thanks to Egypt’s President, Government, and people for hosting the meeting, for their warm welcome and generous hospitality, and for the excellent organization of the event. He also commended the Egyptian National Commission for ensuring the success of this session, and hailed the valuable efforts of Dr. Ayman Farid, Assistant Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research and Supervisor of the Egyptian National Commission.

The representative of the Arab League General Secretariat commended ALECSO’s ongoing achievements in furtherance of joint Arab action, and affirmed the General Secretariat’s continued support for the Organization in the implementation of its future initiatives and programs.
