In celebration of the World Arabic Language Day, the Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization (Education Department), organized, on 18 December 2025 at its headquarters in Tunis, a Symposium themed: “Innovative Pathways for the Arabic Language: Policies and Practices for a More Inclusive Linguistic Future.”
The Symposium was held under the patronage of H.E. Dr. Mohamed Ould Amar, Director-General of ALECSO, and in the presence of Dr. Nabil Grissa, Vice-President of the University of Manouba, Mr. Adel Dkhil, representative of the Tunisian Minister of Education, and Dr. Issa Al Hammadi, Director of the Arabic Language Education Center for the Gulf States (Sharjah). The event was also attended by Cultural Attachés from Arab embassies accredited to Tunisia, along with a number of academics and experts.
Organized in collaboration with the University of Manouba and the Laboratory of Semantic Studies and Computational Linguistics at the Faculty of Manouba, the Symposium focused on ALECSO’s efforts in promoting innovative language policies toward a more inclusive linguistic future.
On this occasion, ALECSO presented its strategic project titled : “The Common Framework of Reference for the Arabic Language : Teaching, Learning, and Assessment”, implemented in cooperation with the Islamic Development Bank and under the scientific supervision of Dr. Rami Iskander, Director of Education at ALECSO and Executive Director of the project. Through this initiative, ALECSO reaffirms the importance of innovation in developing the Arabic language, formulating clear and binding language policies, and envisioning an inclusive linguistic future that meets modern-day requirements.
The Symposium offered an academic platform for scholarly presentations on the Arabic language and the ways to empower it. It concluded with a set of recommendations aimed at strengthening the status of the Arabic language and making it an active partner in shaping the future.
