Under the patronage and in the presence of His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Amir of the State of Qatar, the ceremony marking the completion of the “Doha Historical Dictionary of the Arabic Language” was held on December 22, 2025, in Doha, Qatar. The event was attended by high-ranking dignitaries, scholars, and experts from across the Arab world and beyond.
ALECSO was represented by Dr. Mourad Rifi, Director of the Arabization Coordination Bureau.
The ceremony featured a presentation highlighting this significant project and its importance in empowering the present and future of the Arabic language.
During the ceremony, His Highness the Amir of the State of Qatar honored the members of the Executive Board and Scientific Council of the Dictionary.
The “Doha Historical Dictionary of the Arabic Language” project began in 2013. The dictionary includes 300,000 lexical entries tracing the historical development of Arabic vocabulary, making this rich lexicographical resource accessible to the world through a digital platform designed to that end.
