ALECSO strongly condemns attacks on Al-Aqsa Mosque

In view of the escalation of barbaric attacks against Al-Aqsa Mosque and against worshippers during the holy month of Ramadan, and given the persistent targeting of this symbolic landmark and the recurrence of such violations especially during religious events for Muslims in general and for the Palestinian people in particular, the Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization (ALECSO) condemns in the strongest terms these egregious attacks, and expresses its full solidarity with the peaceable Palestinian people in the face of the aggressions to which they are exposed, together with their heritage symbols, inside Al-Haram Al-Sharif.

In line with its firm position in support of the Palestinian people, ALECSO calls for an end to these barbaric attacks, and appeals to the world community and international organizations to act in order to provide protection to worshippers, so that they can practice their religious rituals in security and peace,  and to safeguard the cultural heritage of the Palestinian people and of all Mankind. It recalls in this regard that the city of Al-Quds and all its historical landmarks have been inscribed as a world heritage since 1981, and warns that these attacks could lead to the loss of this universal heritage forever.
