The Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization (ALECSO) took part in the 2nd Arab Scientific Days on Artificial Intelligence and Digital Transformation, held in the city of Hammamet, Tunisia, on July 12-14, 2025.
The event was organized by the Arab Scientific Cooperation Council, in collaboration with several universities and academic and scientific institutions from various Arab countries. It saw the participation of prominent academics, experts, and researchers from across the Arab world.
Dr. Mohamed Jemni, Director of ICT at ALECSO, delivered a keynote lecture during the opening session titled : “ALECSO’s Efforts in Artificial Intelligence and Digital Transformation in the Arab World.” He highlighted the main projects launched by ALECSO in this regard, notably:
- The ALECSO Charter on AI Ethics, which serves as a reference framework to promote the ethical and responsible use of artificial intelligence in the Arab world.
- The “Skills for Innovation” project, in collaboration with Intel, Classera, and Millennium@EDU Sustainable Education, which aims at equipping Arab teachers and learners with modern and innovative digital skills.
- The “Digital Transformation in Higher Education” project, in cooperation with UNESCO-ICHEI, which involves a field study in ten Arab countries highlighting digital gaps and major challenges facing higher education in the region.
- The Framework of Reference for Digital Transformation in Arab Higher Education Institutions, prepared in partnership between ALECSO and the Arab American University in Palestine (AAUP). It serves as a practical guide for higher education institutions to plan and implement digital transformation strategies, and to enhance education quality and digital governance.
Through this participation, ALECSO reaffirmed its commitment to supporting Arab countries in the process of digital transformation, and developing public policies for integrating artificial intelligence into education, culture, and administration, thereby accelerating transition toward smart and sustainable Arab societies.
