As part of its unwavering commitment to supporting and strengthening the right to education in times of crisis, the Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization (ALECSO) announced, on April 29, 2025, the launch of a comprehensive initiative to support the education sector in the State of Palestine. The announcement took place during the workshop, held at ALECSO headquarters, officially unveiling the “Digital Transformation Framework for Arab Universities”.
The initiative was introduced during the opening session of the workshop, chaired by H.E. Dr. Mohamed Ould Amar, Director-General of ALECSO, who reaffirmed ALECSO’s commitment to leveraging digital tools in service of humanitarian causes.
The launch event was attended by H.E. Dr. Ali Zeidan Abu Zuhri, Chairman of the Palestinian National Commission for Education, Culture, and Science, Dr. Rami Farouk Al-Qaddoumi, Ambassador of the State of Palestine to Tunisia, as well as representatives from partner organizations and Arab and international experts.
The initiative involves several component, including :
- Provision of Open Educational Resources, including free books, platforms, and training courses.
- Training programs for teachers to enhance their skills in technology and digital education.
- Rehabilitation of damaged schools by publicizing available international funding opportunities and facilitating access to them.
- Scholarship opportunities for Palestinian students to pursue higher education, both within Palestine and abroad.
- Psychosocial Support for learners and teachers through providing specialized content, and collaboration with international organizations such as UNICEF and UNESCO.
