ALECSO Launches Digital Transformation Framework for Arab Universities

The Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization (ALECSO) launched, on April 29, 2025, the "Digital Transformation Framework for Arab Universities" during a workshop held at its headquarters in Tunis. This Framework serves as a reference guide through which ALECSO seeks to provide a roadmap to help universities in Member States achieve comprehensive digital empowerment.

The initiative was launched under the supervision of H.E. Dr. Mohamed Ould Amar, Director-General of ALECSO, and in the presence of H.E. Dr. Ali Zeidan Abu Zuhri, Chairman of the Palestinian National Commission for Education, Culture and Science, H.E. Dr. Rami Farouk Al-Qadoumi, Ambassador of the State of Palestine to the Republic of Tunisia, and H.E. Dr. Abdelmajid Ben Amara, Secretary-General of the Federation of Arab Scientific Research Councils. The event was also attended by representatives from the Palestinian Accreditation and Quality Assurance Commission, the Arab American University, and several Tunisian universities and Arab organizations.

In his opening remarks, the Director-General of ALECSO noted that digital transformation in Arab universities is no longer a choice but is now a vital necessity to improve the quality of education and scientific research and enhance the global competitiveness of Arab societies. He pointed out that ALECSO has placed digital transformation and artificial intelligence at the core of its strategies and programs. In this regard, he added, ALECSO has actively worked to promote the use of AI in education, culture, and science, and has launched the “ALECSO Charter on AI Ethics” to ensure the safe and inclusive use of artificial intelligence.
