The Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization (ALECSO) took part in the 57th General Conference of the Association of Arab Universities (AARU), held on April 23-25, 2025 at the International University of Kuwait in the State of Kuwait.
ALECSO was represented at the conference by Dr. Mohamed Sanad Abu Darwish, Director of Science and Scientific Research, who spoke at the opening session of the Conference, on behalf of H.E. Dr. Mohamed Ould Amar, Director-General of ALECSO. He conveyed the Director-General’s greeting to Dr. Amr Ezzat Salama, Secretary-General of the Association of Arab Universities, to Dr. Barakat A. AL-Hudaiban, President of the International University of Kuwait, as well as to the presidents of Arab universities participating in the Conference. He also expressed thanks and appreciation to the State of Kuwait for its continued support to joint Arab action institutions, as well as to the Association of Arab Universities for its significant efforts in developing and supporting Arab universities, which serve as beacons of knowledge and culture dedicated to building the Arab individual and advancing the Arab world.
Dr. Abu Darwish affirmed that ALECSO is committed to advancing the objectives of the Arab Strategy for Scientific Research, Technology and Innovation through various projects, activities, and initiatives aimed at supporting and promoting scientific research in Arab countries, as well as strengthening the higher education system in the Arab region. He indicated that ALECSO has initiated the establishment of the ALECSO Fund for Scientific Research, Entrepreneurship, and Innovation, and has laid the groundwork for ALECSO’s Strategy for Innovation and Entrepreneurship in Arab Higher Education Institutions.
Dr. Abu Darwish indicated that as part of efforts to strengthen partnerships with Arab universities and enhance their role in the sharing of knowledge and in empowering scientific and academic talents, ALECSO—through its Department of Science and Scientific Research—has implemented several projects and initiatives in collaboration with many Arab universities. It has also implemented activities that engage numerous experts, academics, and researchers from Arab universities, as well as from the Arab scientific diaspora, through the ALECSO Science Portal.
Dr. Abu Darwish concluded by affirming ALECSO’s readiness for continued cooperation with the Association of Arab Universities and all relevant bodies and institutions in pursuit of shared goals.
