The Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization (ALECSO) hosted, on April 24, 2025,  the opening session of the second edition of the "Artificial Intelligence in Business and Industry" Conference.

The two-day event is organized by ALECSO in partnership with the LARODEC Lab at the University of Tunis, the Higher Institute of Management of Tunis, and the Higher School of Economic and Commercial Sciences of Tunis. It saw a wide participation from prominent researchers, experts, and academics from various Arab countries.

Dr. Mohamed Jemni, Director of ICT at ALECSO, delivered the opening speech on behalf of H.E. Dr. Mohamed Ould Amar, Director-General of ALECSO. He emphasized the strategic importance of AI as a key driver for economic stimulation, innovation, and sustainable development in the Arab world.

Dr. Jemni highlighted ALECSO's pivotal role in supporting digital transformation through significant initiatives, including the development of the Arab Charter on AI Ethics, support for smart learning platforms, and preparations for the launch of the "Digital Transformation Framework for Arab Universities", scheduled for April 29 at ALECSO headquarters.  He also reviewed ALECSO’s efforts in youth capacity-building, particularly through the annual “Arab Code Week” competition, which involves nearly three million Arab children and youth, and serves as a platform for promoting creative thinking and instilling a culture of programming from an early age.

The Conference focuses on the scientific and practical applications of artificial intelligence in key sectors such as healthcare, education, management, and public services. It serves as a platform for dialogue on AI governance and for the development of innovative digital policies to enhance the competitiveness of the Arab economy.

The Conference program featured scientific presentations and specialized panel discussions aimed at exploring the prospects of artificial intelligence and its potential to advance comprehensive development across the Arab countries.
