H.E. Dr. Mohamed Ould Amar, Director-General of ALECSO, paid a visit, on April 22, 2025, to the European Institute of the Mediterranean (IEMed) in Barcelona, Spain. He was received by Ambassador Senén Florensa, Executive Director of IEMed.
The meeting discussed joint cooperation projects in the Institute’s areas of action, most notably the protection of cultural heritage in Arab countries, especially in conflict zones. It also touched on ALECSO’s participation in the UNESCO Mondiacult Summit, which will be hosted by the city of Barcelona in September 2025, and to prepare for a side-event to be held on the sidelines of the Summit.
IEMed is one of the most prominent centers for studies and dialogue, headquartered in Barcelona, Spain. It was established in 1989 with the aim of promoting cooperation and mutual understanding among the peoples and countries of the Mediterranean. It supports Euro-Mediterranean policies, particularly the Barcelona Process and the Union for the Mediterranean. IEMed adopts a multidisciplinary approach that involves political and social research, cultural cooperation, intercultural dialogue, and science and knowledge dissemination.
