The Training Workshop on “E-Learning and Smart Education in Higher Education”, organized by ALECSO in collaboration with the Jordanian National Commission for Education, Culture and Science and hosted by the University of Jordan in Amman, concluded on April 9, 2025.
The aim of the workshop was to strengthen the capacities of university staff in the use of modern technologies and artificial intelligence to support digital transformation in academic institutions. The program featured intensive academic and practical sessions covering the latest trends in e-learning and smart teaching methods.
During the opening session, Dr. Mohamed Jemni, Director of ICT at ALECSO, had highlighted the Organization’s key initiatives and projects in AI and digital transformation, including its initiative to develop an Ethical Charter for Artificial Intelligence in the Arab Region.
The two experts, Dr. Ramzi Farhat and Dr. Belhassen Ketatt, offered a joint presentation on the emergence, evolution and challenges of e-learning, reviewing key software and applications and their role in enhancing higher education.
The second and third days were devoted to practical applications, with focus on Big Data and its uses in e-learning, data analysis techniques using advanced digital environments, and training on virtual machine setups.
The training program included hands-on activities that enhanced participants’ practical knowledge in AI and smart education.
The workshop concluded by appreciating the efforts of all participants and reaffirming the importance of continued cooperation and knowledge exchange to support digital transformation in higher education across the Arab world.
