The closing ceremony of the Arab Code Week, held in its 4th edition under the theme of “Artificial Intelligence in the Service of Arabic Language”, was held on February 19, 2025 at ALECSO headquarters in Tunis. The competition saw the participation of nearly 3 million participants from various Arab countries, and was designed to promote the use of modern technologies in the service of the Arabic language and enhance digital innovation in the field of language processing.
The ceremony was attended by the Tunisian Minister of Education, H.E. Mr. Noureddine Nouri, the Libyan Minister of Education, H.E. Dr. Musa Mohammed Al-Maqrif, alongside diplomats and ambassadors from various countries accredited in Tunisia. Prominent academic figures and experts in the fields of programming and artificial intelligence were also in attendance
In his opening remarks, Dr. Mohamed Ould Amar, Director-General of ALECSO, expressed his delight at hosting this closing event of the Arab Code Week. He commended the theme chosen for the current edition, which reflects a collective commitment to enhancing the presence of Arabic in the digital space and preparing future generations to be actively engaged in the process of digital transformation.
The Director-General expressed pride in the outstanding success of this year’s edition of the Arab Code Week, with nearly three million participants from across the Arab world, which reflects the growing interest in programming and artificial intelligence, and the deep awareness of the importance of acquiring digital skills to keep pace with global developments.
The Director-General commended the significant role played by ALECSO's partners in the success of this edition, on top of which the key partner King Salman Global Academy for Arabic Language (KSGAAL) which offered substantial support for this event, out of its belief in the crucial importance of smart applications in serving the Arabic language. He extended thanks to the Tunisian Association for Educational Initiatives for its continuous support to the Arab Code Week since its inception, as a contribution to promoting the culture of programming and enhancing the spirit of innovation among Arab youth.
Winners in the various categories of the competition were honored, and their AI-based projects and innovations were showcased.
A discussion session was held on the future of Arabic language processing amidst the current technological developments.
This collaboration between ALECSO and KSGAAL is a significant step toward further enhancing joint Arab efforts to support technological projects focused on the Arabic language, achieve integration between academic and research institutions in developing language-related AI technologies, and enrich Arabic content on digital platforms.
