As part of its efforts to promote science and scientific research, enhance higher education systems in Arab countries, and foster cooperation between Arab universities and scientific institutions, and their global counterparts, the Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization took part in the Second Conference of Francophone University Presidents in the Middle East. The Conference was organized by the Agence Universitaire de la Francophonie (AUF) at the University of Sharjah, on February 5-8, 2025.
ALECSO was represented at the Conference by Dr. Mohamed Sanad Abu Darwish, Director of Science and Scientific Research.
The Conference addressed several key topics, including enhancing employability and professional integration for university graduates by integrating skills into university curricula, promoting scientific research exchanges and cooperation between Arab and Francophone universities, and supporting joint initiatives among member universities. The Conference also explored ways of developing student and academic exchange programs, enhancing research partnerships, and sharing the latest scientific advances.
Dr. Abu Darwish conveyed the greetings of H.E. Dr. Mohamed Ould Amar, Director-General of ALECSO, to all participants, and stressed ALECSO’s readiness to collaborate with the AUF in the joint implementation of various projects and initiatives, which will deepen cooperation between ALECSO and Francophone universities. He also highlighted ALECSO’s willingness to cooperate with all the participating Arab and global institutions and universities in such a way as to serve shared goals, enhance scientific research, and promote the sharing of knowledge.
The Conference saw the participation of a large number of heads of Arab universities, along with representatives of relevant Arab and global institutions.
