In collaboration with the Egyptian National Commission for Education, Science, and Culture, the Arab League Educational, Cultural, and Scientific Organization (ALECSO) organized a Sub-regional Training Workshop on “Developing Early Childhood Curricula Quality Assurance Tools and Enhancing Arabic Language Teaching.” The workshop was held in hybrid  format on December 24-26, 2024, in Cairo, Egypt.

The workshop was held as part of ALECSO’s efforts to promote early childhood education, with focus on improving Arabic language reading skills among children in their early years (kindergarten) using modern technologies and self-learning applications tailored for young learners.

The workshop was inaugurated by Dr. Rami Iskander, Director of Education at ALECSO, and Dr. Soumaya El-Sayed, Assistant Secretary-General of the Egyptian National Commission for Education, Science, and Culture.

The workshop featured five training units :

  • Roles of early childhood educator
  • Linguistic standards of the Arabic language
  • Developing readiness for reading
  • Self-learning strategies
  • Evaluation of workshop outcomes and presentation of recommendations

Global reports, including the World Economic Forum's Global Competitiveness Report  (June 2021), indicate that many Arab countries lack the needed tools for the measuring of education quality , with a significant number of Arab children under 11 years old facing major difficulties in reading, writing, and arithmetic.
