The Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization (ALECSO) participated in the ARSCO Award Ceremony for 2024, held under the theme of “Disaster Management and Mitigation in the Arab World.”
The event was held in Doha, Qatar, on December 15, 2024, with the participation of several officials, experts, and specialists in disaster management from Arab countries and international organizations.
ALECSO was represented at this event by Dr. Mohamed Sanad Abu Darwish, Director of Science and Scientific Research.
The award was granted to Dr. Adel Salhi, Professor at the Faculty of Arts and Humanities at Abdelmalek Essaadi University in Morocco, and Expert with major scientific institutions and international organizations.
The event also featured a workshop on “The Role of Science in Disaster Management and Mitigation in the Arab World,” which was an opportunity for participants to learn about the latest global and Arab practices in disaster management.
Additionally, a scientific project titled “Contributions of Islamic Civilization to Human Knowledge” was launched. The project aims to highlight the role of the Arab-Islamic civilization in the advancement of science and human thought. It includes two main components: the first involves producing and translating encyclopedias and scientific books, while the second involves organizing international conferences and symposiums to discuss the contributions of Islamic civilization to the advancement of sciences.
