On November 28, 2024, a ceremony was held to honor the winners of the Hamdan-ALECSO Award for Distinguished Educational Research, as part of the joint efforts of ALECSO and the Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation for Medical and Educational Sciences.
The ceremony took place at the conclusion of the 19th Conference of Arab Ministers of Higher Education and Scientific Research, held in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.
The winners were honored by H.H. Sheikh Rashid bin Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Supreme President of Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation for Medical and Educational Sciences, H.E. Dr. Mohamed Ould Amar, Director-General of ALECSO, H.E. Dr. Abdulrahman Al Awar, UAE Minister of Human Resources and Emiratisation, Acting Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and H.E. Mr. Humaid Mohammed Al Qatami, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Hamdan Foundation. The event was attended by prominent figures, including Ministers of Higher Education and Scientific Research as well as Director-Generals of Arab and regional organizations.
In his remarks on this occasion, Dr. Mohamed Ould Amar, Director-General of ALECSO, expressed his sincere gratitude to His Highness Sheikh Rashid bin Hamdan for his gracious patronage of the ceremony. He extended his thanks to H.E. Mr. Humaid Mohammed Al Qatami, Dr. Khalifa Al Suwaidi, and the entire family of the Hamdan Foundation for their significant efforts to enhance cooperation and partnership with ALECSO.
The Director-General stressed that ALECSO seeks, through this prestigious award, to support researchers and encourage innovative practitioners in the field of education. This, he added, will promote innovation in education in order to keep pace with technological and scientific developments, and thus make the educational system more responsive to current needs.
The Director-General expressed his warmest congratulations to the winners of the Award and to all participants from Arab countries, wishing them continued success and excellence in their academic, research, and professional endeavors. He reaffirmed ALECSO's commitment to encouraging researchers and maximizing the benefits of educational research in its plans and activities. ALECSO, he added, is keen to value and disseminate this research through its publications, particularly the “Arab Journal of Education,” published periodically for over forty years. Additionally, ALECSO’s partnerships in organizing awards and competitions with Arab institutions dedicated to developing education and advancing educational research, such as the fruitful partnership with Hamdan Foundation, play a crucial role in motivating researchers to pursue innovation in education as well as in highlighting and valorizing best practices.
