ALECSO and Tunisian Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research sign Cooperation Agreement

 

On the sidelines of the 19th Conference of Arab Ministers of Higher Education and Scientific Research, held in Abu Dhabi, UAE, the Arab League Educational, Cultural, and Scientific Organization (ALECSO) and the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research of the Republic of Tunisia signed, on November 28, 2024, a Cooperation Agreement designed to enhance the use of digital technologies in higher education.

The agreement specifically focuses on the adoption of the Blockchain-based Arab unified system for verifying the authenticity of university certificates, developed by ALECSO in collaboration with "K2LIS". This pioneering initiative seeks to provide an effective and reliable means of ensuring the authenticity of certificates and combating certificate forgery.

The agreement highlights the importance of cooperation between ALECSO and the Ministry in providing innovative solutions to promote digital transformation in academic institutions. It involves providing technical and technological support to Tunisian universities interested in adopting this system.

The agreement was signed by H.E. Dr. Mohamed Ould Amar, Director General of ALECSO, and H.E. Mr. Mondher Belaid, Tunisian Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, in the presence of Dr. Mohamed Jemni, Director of ICT at ALECSO and Technical Manager of the project, Dr. Malek Kochlef, Director of International Cooperation, and Dr. Samir Becha, Director-General of Higher Education at the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research.
