As part of his visit to the Kuwait International Book Fair, H.E. Dr. Mohamed Ould Amar, Director-General of ALECSO, offered a lecture, on November 23, 2024, on the Arab Culture Capitals program. He highlighted the main features and goals of this program, as well as the criteria for the selection of culture capitals.
The Arab Culture Capitals program is one of the major initiatives launched by ALECSO to enhance the cultural and historical status of the selected cities.
For his part, the Secretary-General of the National Council for Culture, Arts, and Letters of Kuwait, Dr. Mohamed Khaled Al-Jassar, gave a presentation outlining Kuwait’s preparations for the celebration of the “Kuwait : Arab Capital of Culture for 2025” event. He indicated that a series of local and regional activities will be organized to showcase Kuwait's cultural prominence in the Arab world, with special focus on its local specificities.
The official announcement of the events marking Kuwait as Arab Capital of Culture will be made at the end of 2024, during a formal ceremony to be organized by the Kuwaiti Ministry of Information, the National Council for Culture, Arts, and Letters, and ALECSO.
