Launch of the First ALECSO Forum on Early Childhood

The First ALECSO Forum on Early Childhood kicked off on November 20, 2024, at ALECSO headquarters, under the patronage of the Director-General, Dr. Mohamed Ould Amar.

The two-day Forum, held in hybrid format, was themed: “Quality in Early Childhood and the Transformation of Pre-School Education.” It was attended by relevant officials and experts from Jordan, Tunisia, Syria, Oman, Qatar, Libya, and Morocco, along with representatives from international organizations, government bodies, private sector institutions, and civil society organizations.

In their statements at the opening session, representatives from the Tunisian Ministry of Religious Affairs, Ministry of Education, Ministry of Social Affairs, and Ministry of Family, Women, Childhood, and Elderly Affairs, commended ALECSO’s efforts in promoting early childhood education across the Arab region. They underlined the importance of the theme and goals of the Forum, held as part of the celebration of World Children's Day, observed on November 20th each year.

The Forum featured presentations showcasing Arab countries’ experiences and efforts in early childhood development. It also included scientific interventions on ways of advancing early childhood, in the context of following up the outcomes of the Transforming Education Summit and the World Conference on Early Childhood Care and Education. The Forum also addressed opportunities to best leverage successful practices and experiences in improving early childhood education in Arab countries.

The Forum provided proposals and recommendations to help accelerate the implementation of SDG4, as part of a transformative vision that turns commitments into practical achievements, while giving utmost importance to early childhood development as part of the relevant international and regional frameworks of action.
