ALECSO Director-General visits National Museum of Qatar

 

H.E. Dr. Mohamed Ould Amar, Director-General of ALECSO, paid a visit, on November 13, 2024, to the National Museum of Qatar.    He was received by H.E. Sheikh Abdulaziz bin Hamad Al Thani, Director of the Museum. 

Before touring the Museum's galleries, a working session was held, bringing together the Director-General and his accompanying delegation along with the Director of the Museum and his assistants. 

Both sides discussed ways of enhancing cooperation between ALECSO and the Museum, through a shared vision that serves the objectives of both institutions. They explored ways of leveraging ALECSO's expertise in terms of heritage preservation and restoration, and promoting capacity-building in these areas, in addition to organizing training courses on manuscript restoration.

Both sides agreed to develop executive programs for the implementation of several proposals. In this regard, the Director-General expressed ALECSO’s readiness to provide support in areas related to heritage preservation, particularly by leveraging the experience and expertise of the Institute of Arabic Manuscript in terms of manuscript restoration. 

The meeting also  considered the possibility of networking national museums in Arab countries by organizing a meeting of directors of museums to share experiences and highlight the significant cultural roles that these institutions play in showcasing the rich heritage of the Arab world.

Following the meeting, the Director-General and his accompanying delegation toured the Museum’s galleries. They were briefed on the Museum's contents and management system.

At the end of the visit, the Director-General wrote down a few words in the Museum’s Golden Book, in which he thanked the staff of the Museum for all their efforts to strengthen the role of the Museum as a cultural beacon that showcases the rich history of Qatar.
