ALECSO participates in “Development 2030” Conference in Geneva

 

The Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization (Department of Science and Scientific Research) participated in the “Development 2030 - Beyond Aid” Conference organized by the German Human Restart Foundation, as part of the global AidEx event, held on October 23-24, 2024 at Palexpo in Geneva, Switzerland. ALECSO took part in the session focused on promoting sustainable development through international qualifications and employment.

Addressing the session, Dr. Mohamed Sanad Abu Darwish, Director of Science and Scientific Research, conveyed the greetings of H.E. Dr. Mohamed Ould Amar, Director-General of ALECSO, to all participants. He stressed that ALECSO welcomes cooperation with all international and Arab bodies and institutions to meet the Sustainable Development Goals and pursue shared objectives in a way that helps societies achieve progress in all fields.

Dr. Abu Darwish offered a brief overview of the projects implemented by the Department of Science and Research in 2023, the projects currently under way in 2024, and those scheduled for 2025 and 2026, with emphasis on the target groups and desired outcomes, all in line with the Arab Strategy for Scientific Research, Technology, and Innovation.

The Conference covered various topics, including Empowering the future, leading innovation for human impact; Partnerships for a sustainable future; Partnering with local actors: from challenges to impact; Empowering local actors as a catalyst for addressing SDGs;  Fostering self-reliance in humanitarian settings; and other themes designed to foster collaboration among global and Arab bodies, institutions and organizations.
