The first in-person coordination meeting for the inscription of “Sanbuk” (traditional wooden dhow) on UNESCO’s List of Intangible Cultural Heritage concluded on October 10, 2024.
The meeting was graciously hosted by the Ministry of Culture in Qatar, in collaboration with the Qatari National Commission for Education, Culture, and Science.
In his closing remarks, Dr. Humaid Al-Nofali, Director of Culture at ALECSO, expressed his deep thanks to the State of Qatar, to the Ministry of Culture, represented by the Department of Heritage and Identity, to the Qatar National Commission, as well as to all participants from Arab countries and to media representatives, for their contributions to the success of the meeting.
At the close of the meeting, Sheikha Najla bint Faisal Al Thani, Director of the Department of Heritage and Identity at the Qatari Ministry of Culture, and Dr. Humaid Al-Nofali, handed over certificates of appreciation to participants from Arab countries.
