The “Teacher Training Course in Robotics and Artificial Intelligence” commenced on October 6, 2024, at the Electronics Research Institute in Cairo, Egypt.
This event, which ran over five days, was organized by ALECSO (ICT Department), in collaboration with the Egyptian National Commission for Education, Science and Culture, and the Electronics Research Institute, affiliated with the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research. This training is part of an ALECSO program designed to “build capacities in artificial intelligence in education,” in order to keep pace with current advancements in AI and robotics.
ALECSO was represented in this event by Eng. Zied Maazaoui, Expert at the ICT Department. Addressing the Workshop, Eng. Maazaoui conveyed the greetings of H.E. Dr. Mohamed Ould Amar, Director-General of ALECSO, and his wishes for the success of this training course. He extended his thanks to the Egyptian National Commission for Education, Science and Culture for its cooperation with ALECSO in preparing for this event. He asserted that ALECSO spares no effort in collaborating with Member States to build the capacities of workers in all areas falling within ALECSO’s fields of competence.
The ALECSO representative noted that the world has, in recent years, witnessed tremendous developments in artificial intelligence and the use of robots across vital sectors. Robots, he added, are no longer mere machines that follow commands; they are now capable of interacting with their environment, learning from experiences, and adapting their behavior to surrounding conditions, thanks to deep learning and generative AI applications that have enhanced the interactive capabilities of smart systems.
The training workshop involved 24 primary education teachers from the Ministry of Education and the Al-Azhar Institutes Sector.
