H.E. Dr. Mohamed Ould Amar, Director General ALECSO, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Dr. Pierre Fenech, CEO of the Institute of Tourism Studies (ITS) in the Republic of Malta. The signing ceremony, which took place on September 27, 2024 at the ITS headquarters in Valletta, was attended by the Maltese Minister of Tourism, along with prominent figures and the ITS executive and academic personnel.
This MoU aligns with ALECSO's ongoing efforts to implement the goals spelled out in the Arab Strategy for Scientific Research, Technology, and Innovation, particularly those calling for promoting cooperation and networking between Arab research institutions and their global counterparts, in order to facilitate the transfer and localization of knowledge and the adoption of best practices in various scientific and technical fields.
During the signing ceremony, the Maltese Minister of Tourism expressed the Ministry's readiness to enhance fruitful collaboration between ALECSO, the Maltese Ministry of Tourism, and the Institute of Tourism Studies, through the implementation of future projects and initiatives. These efforts aim to promote scientific, educational, and cultural tourism, and share expertise and best practices in specialized sciences. The Minister commended the significant role played by ALECSO in supporting education, culture, and science in the Arab world and globally, and in promoting civilized dialogue among peoples.
