The Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization (Education Department) took part, on September 11, 2024, in the Second Regional Meeting on Arab Learning Cities, organized remotely by the UNESCO Institute for Lifelong Learning in partnership with the Arab Bureau of Education for the Gulf States. This meeting was convened as part of preparations for the 6th International Conference on Learning Cities, scheduled to take place on December 3-5, 2024, in Jubail, Saudi Arabia.
The meeting provided a significant opportunity for participants to discuss priority issues and challenges related to the building of Learning Cities and the promotion of education for sustainable development, including in the context of climate action.
Participants shared their observations on ways of promoting climate awareness and climate education, and presented recommendations aimed at strengthening the Regional Network of Arab Learning Cities and addressing challenges to the implementation of educational projects.
ALECSO chaired the 5th Working Group and presented a summary of the dialogue among the Group members regarding the topics under consideration.
