H.E. Dr. Mohamed Ould Amar, Director-General of ALECSO, announced the opening of nominations for the “ALECSO Creativity and Innovation Award for Young Arab Researchers in Green Economy” (University of Sharjah edition).

This initiative is part of ALECSO’s efforts to support scientific research, entrepreneurship, and innovation in the Arab world, in alignment with the goals and mechanisms spelled out in the Arab Strategy for Scientific Research, Technology and Innovation, whose implementation follow-up was entrusted to ALECSO by the 28th Arab Summit.

Given the significant role that Green Economy plays in enhancing resource efficiency, reducing carbon emissions and pollution, and preventing biodiversity loss and ecosystem degradation, this edition of the Award focuses on research and projects conducted by young Arab researchers and institutions with the aim of promoting Green Economy.

Naming this edition “the University of Sharjah Edition” reflects ALECSO's appreciation for Arab universities, particularly the University of Sharjah, and their valuable contributions to the progress of scientific research and innovation, as well as their role in fostering creativity as well as in promoting a culture of research and innovation among Arab youth.

The winners of this Award will be announced and honored during the opening ceremony of the second ALECSO Twinning of Arab Universities Forum, which will be hosted by the University of Sharjah on November 20-22, 2024.
