Under the patronage of H.E. Dr. Mohamed Ould Amar, Director-General of ALECSO, and H.E. Dr. Ayman Ashour, Egyptian Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, President of the Egyptian National Commission for Education, Science, and Culture, the Education Department at ALECSO organized, in collaboration with the Egyptian National Commission and the General Authority for Adult Education, a training course on “Enhancing Educational Access for Rural Women as part of Literacy and Adult Education Programs”. The course took place on September 3-5, 2024, under the supervision of Dr. Rami Iskander, Director of the Education Department at ALECSO.
The course aimed to provide literacy programs for rural women using modern communication tools and in accordance with their real needs. It sought to ensure a broad participation of illiterate women in literacy programs, familiarize trainees with the fundamentals of curriculum development using modern means of communication, and offer practical and theoretical training to participants.
In his opening speech, Dr. Rami Iskandar conveyed the greetings of H.E. Dr. Mohamed Ould Amar, Director-General of ALECSO, and his wishes for the success of the training course. He emphasized ALECSO’s commitment to collaborating with Member States to build the capacities of workers in all fields related to ALECSO’s areas of action. He indicated that ALECSO is preparing to implement several qualitative projects designed to enhance national efforts for the empowerment of women.
The course covered several training modules, including in particular :
- Presentation of Egypt’s literacy and adult education program.
- Conceptual framework of the training program.
- Planning literacy and adult education programs for rural women in light of the requirements of the knowledge society, digital transformation, and artificial intelligence.
- Literacy and adult education programs and quality of life for rural women.
- Use of Social Media and AI applications in literacy and adult education programs for rural women : reality and aspirations.
