The Arab League Educational, Cultural, and Scientific Organization (ALECSO) participated in the Emergency Meeting of the Palestine Children Educational Affairs Council, held at the Arab League headquarters on August 18-19, 2024.
ALECSO was represented at this meeting by Dr. Mohamed Kamal, Director of the Cairo-based Institute of Arab Research and Studies.
Dr. Mohamed Kamal conveyed the greetings of H.E. Dr. Mohamed Ould Amar, Director-General of ALECSO, to all participants in the meeting. He highlighted the significant efforts invested by ALECSO, through its technical departments and subsidiary institutions including the Institute of Arab Research and Studies, to support education in Palestine and provide scholarships and facilities for Palestinian students. He indicated that ALECSO stands ready to make further efforts in this regard, in coordination with the relevant Palestinian authorities and Arab countries.
Dr. Amjad Barham, Minister of Education and Higher Education of the State of Palestine, reviewed the challenges facing education in Palestine, particularly in the Gaza Strip.
Dr. Saeed Abu Ali, Assistant Secretary-General, Head of the Palestine Sector and the Occupied Arab Territories at the League of Arab States, highlighted the role undertaken by the Arab League in addressing the challenges faced by the Palestinian people.
