The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization held, on 22-23 April 2024 online via Zoom, the first seminar of a series dedicated to digital competencies for teachers and school students in Member States of the Group of 77 plus China (G77+China).
The Seminar was designed to inform Member States on the development of digital competency frameworks for teachers, drawing upon the UNESCO ICT Competency Framework for Teachers and the upcoming UNESCO AI competency frameworks.
The Seminar offered a platform for Arab States from the G77+China to share experiences and best practices in developing digital competencies for teachers and school students within their respective national contexts.
Participants included representatives from Ministries of Education and relevant governmental agencies, UNESCO representatives, and international experts.
ALECSO was represented by Dr. Mohamed Jemni, Director of ICT Department, who gave a presentation on ALECSO’s efforts in terms of digital competency development for teachers and students in the Arab world, as well as capacity-building in artificial intelligence, coding, smart learning environments, and digital platforms. These efforts aim at encouraging Arab youth to be technologically innovative and to help Arab countries achieve a successful digital transformation.
