As part of its efforts to promote the rich and varied Arab cultural heritage and ensure its sustainability, and in view of the prominent place of the pure-bred Arabian horse in the history and identity of all Arab countries, the Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization hosted an event, on March 21, 2024, to celebrate the Cultural Village Foundation – Katara as Cultural Heritage City of Arabian Horses. This is in recognition of the Katara Foundation’s significant efforts to enhance the unique status of pure-bred Arabian horses at the local, regional and global levels.
In his remarks on this occasion, H.E. Dr. Mohamed Ould Amar, Director-General of ALECSO, stressed that the relationship with horses in the Arab countries goes beyond mere functional use to take on comprehensive cultural, value and aesthetic dimensions. He highlighted, in this regard, the efforts of the Katara Foundation, especially the experience of the “Katara International Arabian Horse Festival.”
For his part, Dr. Khalid Ibrahim Al-Sulaiti, General Manager of Katara Cultural Village Foundation, expressed his deep thanks to ALECSO for its continued support for the Foundation, as well as its efforts to promote and value the Arab cultural heritage. He stressed that the Foundation will continue to work for promoting Arab culture in its various components.
The event concluded with the signing of a cooperation agreement between ALECSO and Katara Cultural Village Foundation.
On this occasion, the Katara Foundation was offered a Certificate of Appreciation and the “ALECSO Shield”.
