Commissioned by H.E. Director-General of ALECSO, Dr. Mohamed Ould Amar, the Director of ICT Department, Dr. Mohamed Jemni, took part, on February 29, 2024 in Rabat, Morocco, in the Constitutive General Assembly of the African Foundation for Lifelong Learning.
This establishment of this institution is designed to enhance lifelong learning opportunities in the African Continent, and promote the sharing of relevant experiences and best practices among African countries toward a better and more inclusive future for all.
The Foundation’s key mandate is to develop a strategy for lifelong learning, identify national policy priorities in this field, and translate them into action plans at the level of each country, in close consultation with education, vocational training, higher education, and literacy stakeholders.
The Foundation will also contribute to developing lifelong learning in the African countries that are members of the Alliance of National Commissions and African Learning Cities, and strengthening the capacities of key lifelong learning stakeholders at national and regional levels, especially decision-makers, managers, teachers, and trainers.
The Foundation will support the efforts of African countries in terms of lifelong-learning through providing easy-access digital solutions, and establishing an African network for lifelong learning among Member States, by adopting the Classera e-learning platform.
For its part, ALECSO will contribute to developing a distance training plan as well as preparing and disseminating digital lessons for the Foundation.
