The Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization (ALECSO) took part in the Second Arab Forum for Environmental Protection in the Arab Civil Aviation Industry, organized by the Arab Civil Aviation Organization on February 26-27, 2024, in Marrakesh, Morocco.
The Forum brought together representatives of aviation authorities, airlines, and airport authorities, along with experts from relevant international and regional institutions, the aviation industry, and scientific research centers.
Panelists addressed recent developments related to civil aviation environmental protection, with focus on the use of aviation fuel, the emissions reduction program, green airports, and local air quality. They also discussed the prospects for international cooperation and capacity-building to come out with recommendations that would enhance global efforts to improve the environmental performance of global civil aviation.
ALECSO was represented in this Forum by Dr. Abdelfattah Lahjomri, Director of the Rabat-based Arabization Coordination Bureau.
It is worth noting that cooperation between ALECSO, represented by its subsidiary institution the Arabization Coordination Bureau, and the Arab Civil Aviation Organization, yielded a Unified Dictionary of Civil Aviation Terms, containing 1950 terms (with definitions) in Arabic, English and French.
