ALECSO hosts meeting of Heads of Educational Measurement and Evaluation Institutions in Arab Countries

Under the patronage of H.E. Dr. Mohamed Ould Amar, Director-General of ALECSO, and in the presence of the Heads of National Educational Measurement and Evaluation Institutions in Arab Countries (Jordan, UAE, Bahrain, Tunisia, Algeria, Sudan, Syria, Iraq, Oman, Palestine, Comoros, Kuwait, Lebanon, Libya, Egypt, Morocco, Mauritania and Yemen), along with a number of relevant experts, the Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization (ALECSO) hosted, in a hybrid format, the First Meeting of the Heads of Measurement and Evaluation Institutions in the Arab Countries.

This meeting was convened as part of ALECSO’s follow-up to the implementation of the resolution adopted by the 11th Conference of Arab Education Ministers, held in Bahrain in November 2019, calling on ALECSO to “coordinate with national bodies and institutions concerned with measurement and evaluation to establish an inclusive Arab network that would help unify their efforts and enhance their role in developing educational evaluation and improving the quality and performance of educational systems.”

In his opening remarks, the Director-General highlighted ALECSO’s efforts to follow up the implementation of this resolution. He indicated that the Organization coordinated with  Arab countries to provide data, statistics, indicators, country experiences, and experts, with the aim of establishing the Arab Network for Measurement and Evaluation. He expressed hope that this network would serve as a qualitative and interactive platform for relevant specialists and officials in Arab countries to develop educational measurement and evaluation systems and improve educational performance in general.
