The Mayor of Tripoli, Eng. Ahmed Qamar Al-Din, received, in his office in the Municipal Palace, a delegation from ALECSO that included Dr. Rami Iskander, Director of the Education Department, Acting Director of the Culture Department, and Dr. Abdelhedi Ghemari, Coordinator of Activities at the Culture Department.
The meeting was attended by Dr. Bouchra Baghdadi Adra, Member of the ALECSO Executive Board for Lebanon, Dr. Bassem Bakhash, Head of the Education and Culture Committee at the Tripoli Municipal Council, and Dr. Basil Al-Hajj, Head of the Local Development Committee at the Municipal Council.
The meeting addressed the ongoing preparations for holding the “Tripoli : Capital of Arab Culture for 2024” event.
Mr. Qamar Al-Din stressed the readiness of Tripoli Municipality to effectively contribute to ensuring the success of this cultural event.
The ALECSO delegation’s mission in Tripoli involved visits to archaeological sites and tourist attractions in Tripoli and to the relevant institutions, in order to ensure adequate preparation for the event.
The delegation visited “Nofal Palace”, “Rachid Karami Cultural Center” in Tripoli Municipality, and other public facilities in the city.
