ALECSO organizes annual Arab-Spanish Education Forum

 

 

The Arab League Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization launched, on December 11, 2023 at its headquarters in Tunis, the second annual Arab-Spanish Educational Forum, under the theme of “Mathematics: Science and Art in the Andalusian Civilization.” 

The opening session was attended by H.E. Dr. Mohamed Ould Amar, Director-General of ALECSO, H.E. Dr. Mohamed Ali Boughdiri, Tunisian Minister of Education, President of the Tunisian National Commission for Education, Science and Culture, H.E. Mr. Javier Puig Saura, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Spain to the Republic of Tunisia, H.E. Mr. Hayel Al-Fahoum, Ambassador of the State of Palestine to the Republic of Tunisia, along with a number of Tunisian and Spanish experts and members of the diplomatic corps accredited in Tunisia.

In his opening remarks, the Director-General of ALECSO highlighted the rich Arab cultural heritage in the science, knowledge and culture fields. He underlined the importance of the Arab-Spanish Forum, noting that it reflects the strong relations between ALECSO and the Spanish Cultural Institute in Tunisia, and offers a renewed opportunity for researchers and experts concerned with culture, education and science to share knowledge and discuss ways of leverage it to serve humanity as a whole.

The Tunisian Education Minister underlined the importance of this annual forum organized by ALECSO, and highlighted its cultural, knowledge and educational dimensions that reflect the values of the Arab-Islamic civilization. He commended the efforts of ALECSO’s Director-General in promoting those values at country and organization levels.

The Spanish Ambassador stressed that the Arab-Spanish Forum contributes to promoting dialogue among cultures and civilizations in a way that serves all of humanity.

The Forum, which ran over three days, featured lectures and presentations, workshops for children and youth on Architecture and Art Education, an exhibition of paintings showing the rich architecture in Andalusia, in addition to the screening of the film “La Alhambra en juego”.
