H.E. Dr. Mohamed Ould Amar, Director-General of ALECSO, took part in the meeting attended by Culture Ministers and Directors of International Organizations, held on December 8, 2023 in Dubai, UAE.
Addressing the ministerial meeting, the Director-General thanked H.E. Dr. Salem bin Khalid Al Qassimi, UAE Minister of Culture and Youth, for organizing this meeting on the sidelines of COP 28 hosted by the United Arab Emirates. He commended the UAE’s significant role in addressing climate issues, and put forward a number of practical proposals to promote culture-based climate action.
The Director-General highlighted the significant role of culture in promoting climate diversity, noting that tangible and intangible cultural heritage can serve as an important entry point for addressing climate issues. He concluded by thanking the leadership and people of the UAE for the excellent and meticulous organization of COP28.
