ALECSO organizes Arab Camp for Talented and Innovative Youth

 

Under the supervision of H.E. Dr. Mohamed Ould Amar, Director-General of ALECSO, the Department of Science and Scientific Research held, on December 3-5, 2023 in Muscat, Oman, the “Arab Camp for Talented and Innovative Youth”. This event took place under the patronage of H.E. Dr. Munther bin Hilal Al Busaidi, Deputy Head of the Oman 2040 Implementation Follow-up Unit, in cooperation with the Omani Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth and Ministry of Education, and in partnership with the Omani National Commission for Education, Culture and Science.

Forty-seven Arab youth from twenty-one Arab countries (Oman, Jordan, Bahrain, Tunisia, Algeria, Djibouti, Saudi Arabia, Sudan, Syria, Somalia, Iraq, Palestine, Qatar, Comoros, Kuwait, Lebanon, Libya, Egypt, Morocco, Mauritania, and Yemen) took part in this camp. They reached the finals of this camp out of 500 applicants who submitted innovative projects that were examined by a jury of experts. These projects were designed to serve local communities and promote sustainable development goals in the areas of environment, food, agriculture, health, education, knowledge transfer, and green economy. 

In his statement on this occasion, Dr. Mohammed Sanad Abu Darwish, Director of Science and Scientific Research, conveyed the greetings of H.E. Dr. Mohamed Ould Amar, Director-General of ALECSO, and his wishes for the success of the Camp. He commended the significant achievements of Oman in all fields, in line with the Oman Vision 2040. He expressed thanks and gratitude to the Omani Minister of Culture, Sports and Youth, the Minister of Education, and the President of the Omani National Commission for Education, Culture and Science, for their fruitful cooperation to host and organize the Camp.

Dr. Abu Darwish indicated that the Department of Science and Scientific Research at ALECSO has always given significant attention to innovation and entrepreneurship, especially for Arab young people who are imbued with a sense of excellence and are fully in tune with their times.  ALECSO, he added, is moving ahead in implementing the Strategic Plan for Scientific Research, Technology and Innovation, whose provisions include, among others, establishing technology and business incubators to increase investment in SME creation, supporting university graduates’ access to the labor market, incorporating innovation and entrepreneurship into university curricula, and enhancing Arab youth’s sense of innovation and entrepreneurship.
