ALECSO statement on   International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People

The Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization (ALECSO) commemorates the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People, in affirmation of the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people to establish their independent State on their land, with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital.

On this occasion, ALECSO urges the international community to assume its political, legal, moral and humanitarian responsibility in the face of the systematic violence and inhuman and brutal aggression committed, in full view of the world, against the defenseless and valorous Palestinian people who are deprived of their most basic rights to decent life, education, health and security.

ALECSO calls on all free consciences in the world to continue supporting the Palestinian people who are daily exposed to killing and destruction, and whose children are deprived of education, a legitimate right guaranteed by UN conventions. The continuing destruction of schools, universities, hospitals, and places of worship, and the acts of intentional killing, constitute a crime punishable by international law. Prompt action is, therefore, needed to protect the Palestinian people from the occupation’s brutal aggression.
