ALECSO holds 120th session of the Executive Council

The Executive Board of the Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization (ALECSO), held its 120th session on November 21, 2023, at ALECSO headquarters in Tunis, Tunisia.

In his opening remarks, H.E. Mr. Hani Bin Muqbil Al-Muqbil, Chairman of the Executive Board, expressed his satisfaction with the significant results achieved during his presidency of the Board. He commended the qualitative shift in the work of the Organization  and the Executive Board, and the initiatives that reflect the new vision adopted by the Board.  He attributed this success to the close cooperation between the Organization’s General Directorship and the Board members, as well as to the role undertaken by Dr. Mohamed Ould Amar, Director-General of ALECSO, who has shown great ability and flexibility in working jointly with Board members to achieve the desired goals.

Mr. Al-Muqbil highlighted in his statement the importance of the ALECSO Business and Partnership Forum, which is a pioneering initiative from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. To ensure the success of the Forum, he added, a high committee was formed,  chaired by the President of the Board and the Director-General and comprising members of the Executive Board representing Member States. He stressed that the first session of the Forum will be crowned with success and will offer an opportunity for the Organization to build partnerships within its Arab, regional and international environment.

Mr. Al-Muqbil thanked the Director-General for his cooperation and positive response to all the ideas put forward during previous Board meetings to serve the Organization’s mandate and enhance its place at the Arab, regional and international levels. He called on the Board members to continue supporting ALECSO so that it can successfully pursue its mandate and realize its goals.

For his part, the Director-General expressed his thanks and gratitude to all members of the Executive Board for their significant cooperation and response, for their efforts toward achieving shared goals, and for their role in enhancing the performance of the Organization. This, he added, has enabled ALECSO to move forward in implementing its plans, strategies and projects. He stressed that these achievements could not have been made without good governance, strategic planning, effective partnership, and close cooperation between the Board and the Organization.

The Director-General reviewed, in his statement, the main activities and programs implemented by the Organization in the areas of education, culture and science.
