H.E. Mr. Ahmed Sayed Ahmed Agg, Mauritanian Minister of Culture, Youth, Sports and Relations with Parliament, and Ms. Safiya bint Intah, Mauritanian Minister for Social Affairs, Children and Family, chaired, on October 31, 2023 in Nouakchott, Mauritania, the launch of the 3rd Arab Forum on Women Empowerment in Arab Countries, held under the theme : “Women Entrepreneurship in Cultural and Creative Industries.”
Placed under the high patronage of Mauritania’s First Lady, Ms. Maryam Fadel Al-Dah, the Forum was held in cooperation between ALECSO and Mouhit Center for Development, Women’s Issues and Peace.
The Forum, which featured a cultural exhibition on women entrepreneurship, discussed the challenges hindering women's engagement in creative and cultural industries, current trends in creative economy, as well as the available investment and employment opportunities.
In his statement on this occasion, delivered on his behalf by Dr. Ahmadou Habibi, Expert at the Culture Department, H.E. Dr. Mohamed Ould Amar, Director-General of ALECSO, pointed out that creative women undertake an effective role in achieving development, promoting cultural industries and creative economy, and driving positive change. He, therefore, stressed the need for advocating full recognition of women’s role and harnessing their expertise and potential to promote comprehensive development in the Arab countries.
